Dark Purple Velvet and Felt Cartwheel Hat with White Ostrich Feather

Large fancy hats also provided protection from the sun, and sometimes prying eyes. Mrs. Holmquest was born in 1902 in Farmers Branch in Dallas County, Texas and could have worn this hat at about the time she married Optometrist, Dr. Alfred A. Holmquest. The Holmquests moved to Lubbock from Amarillo in 1941.
